As a careers advisor, this page is your one-stop shop for all things schools liaison. Here you’ll find key resources, upcoming events and the latest qualification updates to help you support pupils as they explore their post-16 options.
Our School Liaison Team supports pupils exploring their next steps into college and beyond. We work closely with schools, teachers, parents, carers and careers professionals to provide clear guidance on post-16 pathways and the wide range of courses available.
Through taster sessions, events and expert advice, we help students understand what studying at college is really like and support them in making confident, informed choices about their future. Our aim is to raise aspirations and make the transition from school to college as smooth and informed as possible.

TSCG’s School Liaison Team works closely with schools, pupils, and families to navigate the many post-16 options available and support a smooth transition from school to college.
As a Matrix accredited provider of Information, Advice and Guidance, we work in the best interests of your pupils to explore their options and help identify the right pathway for them.
Operating across Greater Manchester and Cheshire, the team works in partnership with school Careers Leaders to help you to comply with DfE Statutory Guidance, Gatsby Benchmarks and the Provider Access Legislation.

Qualifications Explained: The latest updates to changes in qualifications and what to expect
Recent government announcements have provided further clarity on qualification reform. Below is an overview of the latest updates and what they mean for pupils.
Defunding of Level 3 Applied General Qualifications:
The planned removal of large Applied General Qualifications (such as BTECs in Applied Science, Health & Social Care, IT and Business) has been delayed. These qualifications are now expected to be defunded from the 2027/28 academic year, rather than over the next two years.
T Level Reform:
The government is reviewing T Level content and assessment, with some changes expected. T Levels will remain the main technical alternative to A Levels. New T Level subjects, including Care Services and Sport, Fitness & Exercise Science, are planned for 2028/29.
Introduction of V Levels:
The government is consulting on new V Level qualifications—one A Level in size—designed to give a broad overview of a sector. These could be taken alongside A Levels or other V Levels. Final confirmation on whether they will launch is still pending.
Level 2 Qualification Reform:
Level 2 qualifications will be streamlined into two pathways:

Occupational Certificates – leading to employment or apprenticeships
- Foundation Certificates – preparing students for Level 3 study

New Student Welcome Day – 29 June 2027
Students who have accepted their offer will be invited to attend our New Student Welcome Day, giving them the chance to experience their chosen course, meet their tutors, and make new friends ahead of starting in September.
Enrolment Begins – Thursday 20 August 2026
Pupils who have received an offer will be invited to attend enrolment, where they will complete the final steps of the admissions process and confirm their place at college.
Applications Open for 2027 Entry – October 2027
Applications open for pupils wishing to start college in September 2027. Explore our courses, attend events, and submit your application to secure your place.
Open Events – 10 October 2026 and 11 March 2027
Our Open Events give prospective students and their parents or carers the opportunity to explore our campuses, meet teaching staff, learn more about our courses, and discover the support available.
