Course Overview

The Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care is a two-year course equivalent to 3 A Levels. The course will lead to a highly specialised work-related qualification where you will gain the knowledge, understanding and skills to prepare you to progress to employment or continue to study in Higher Education.

This course supports personal progression with varied assessment and personal skill development. Alongside the qualification learners will be expected to complete practical tasks such as basic CPR and first aid.

Course Requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 including English and / or Maths at a minimum of level 4.

A satisfactory enhanced DBS check will be essential.

Assessment

By a mixture of coursework (58%), an exam and controlled assessment (42%). Controlled assessment involves completing an assignment in exam conditions with support material.

Progression

University or employment. Whilst the majority of students go on to healthcare careers this qualification also gives UCAS points that can be used to apply for a range of university courses outside of the Health and Social Care sector.
