Course Overview

This course is for students who want to progress onto University, a higher-level apprenticeship or into employment within a trainee management in Business. Past students have progressed into roles such as Marketing or HR Executives, Accountants and some have gone on to run their own successful businesses.

The course will involve you working as an individual and as part of a team. You will be involved in several projects where you can make use of Business terminology, business, and financial skills as well as leadership. This course involves practical application of research and analysis all concerning today’s business organisations and how they operate.

Employer links are embedded into the course, with regular masterclasses from local businesspersons, insight days and visits as well as opportunities to take part in mentoring sessions with a local businessperson.

You will learn more about marketing, human resources and financial techniques as well as managing events and business functions.

Course Requirements

5 GCSEs at grades 9- 4 including English and maths or a BTEC First Certificate in a related subject (plus GCSE English and maths at grade 4 ) and a successful interview.

What you will Learn

The Level 3 Diploma is a two-year qualification, which will help you to develop the knowledge and skills needed in Business. If you have an interest in business and would like to learn about Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Entrepreneurship, this is the ideal course for you. Students who study a Diploma, will usually do this alongside one a Level (to complete a 3 A Level equivalent qualification over 2 years). Typical subjects to study alongside a Diploma in Business are IT or Criminology.

Assessment

There is continual assessment for some of the units by vocational assignments leading to external quality assessment called National Standard Sampling.

Units 2, 3, 6 & are assessed by a nationally set exam.

Progression

You could go on to further study at university and do courses such as BA (Hons) in Business and Finance, BA (Hons) in Business with Human Resource Management, or BSc (Hons) in International Management. You also have the opportunity go straight into employment if you prefer

Career Options

Areas of employment include junior roles in marketing, administration, financial services, finance, human resources, events management, and other related areas in the business sector
